This is the first film studio in Karnataka, built in a 20 acre land in 1963 by the legendary actor Balakrishna. To promote making of Kannada films in Karnataka he created this facility investing all his money and assets, besides borrowing from the public. In order to make the Kannada film industry self-reliant and save money for the producers, He built this studio on Uttaralli Road near Kengeri, Bengaluru. The studio was not successful as the Kannada film producers did not move their production activities from erstwhile Madras to Bengaluru. Now television programs are shot in the single floor studio. The place has immense potential for development, albeit with no investors. It is sad that this place does not have a memorial for this great actor Balakrishna, who created this studio.
