sabu a nThe construction of this mosque was completed in 1825 C.E.It was built by Haji Dosal Kadwani Sait, a wealthy Cutchi merchant.The first imam of the mosque was Haji Ibrahim Bawa-a sufi from Gujarat.The mosque is maintained by the Cutchi Memon Jamath.This is one of few masjids in Cochin where no public collection is made.It is maintained by contributions from Cutchi Memons and from the rent from the shops and buildings owned by the Jamath.Presently it is known as Pazhaya palli (old mosque).Previously the Friday sermon used to be in Urdu.But now, it has been shifted to Malayalam. The mosque is a two storeyed structure with elegantly carved wooden panel doors.The mihrab has leaf and flower designs rendered in plaster.The qibla wall can be seen as a rounded projection from outside.Glass bell jars for holding candles and candelabra hang from the ceiling.Multi coloured glass panes adorn the mosque. There is a large 8 square metre hawdh(ablution pond).The mosque has 4 large granite water holders brought in from Kutch.The mosque is open to all Muslims .
