George. E.M.I have attended a few cremations of friends/colleagues/neighbours etc. All required amenities are available in/around the place; advance intimation is required to avoid delays. There two electric furnaces run by the Thiruvananthapuram municipal corporation in addition to several conventional open fire choolas known as "Chitha". Recently I attended one in which all rituals including pre-cremation poojas, cremation in electric furnace, collecting the ashes/bones, post-cremation pooja and immersion of bones in river were over in a matter of less than three hours!
