Balaram Mandir is a temple and a branch of Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math located at 57 Ramkanta Bose Street, Girish Avenue, Bidhan Sarani, Baghbazar, Kolkata. It was started in 1922 and was made a branch centre of Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math in 2002. The place has been sanctified by the numerous visits of Sri Ramakrishna, his disciples, and Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi. It was here that the Ramakrishna Mission Association was born- Swami Vivekananda held the historic meeting on 1 May 1897 to finalize his plan for founding the Association in the name of his Master. It was the dwelling place of Balaram Basu, one of the chief lay disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. There is a beautiful prayer room inside and a picture gallery that traces the history of the place.
