Great getaway location in madurai. 4 stars for the location. Place is secluded, quiet and romantic. I had gone for the restaurant with my family. Staff were courteous when we spoke in English and slightly condescending while spoken to in Tamil. Food was normal/decent, but it seemed like we were paying for the Ambience and services rather than the food. For instance, the briyani was sour, pasta was undercooked. But Indian bread varieties and pizza was perfect. If you are a fan of good Ambience, this place s highly recommended in madurai.

This is the casual restaurant in the Taj Gateway hotel. It has a view of the pool grounds, but the highlight is the sitar player who plays during breakfast and dinner. This really added atmosphere to our India experience as I wanted to hear more of the music. The food has a great variety.
