I am devastated by the way your school handles performance of students. My daughter is a student of class 4 , She has scored 90%++ in all subjects except Mathematics wherein she scored 46%. Today She and her mother was humiliated in front of the entire Students and Parents fraternity by being classified as "WEAK" . She was differentiated from the so called "STRONG" and "Brilliant" students and grouped with "WEAK" students. I would like to ask you one simple question :- Irrespective of her Maths Marks her aggregate percentage is 80... Does that classify her as a "WEAK" student and does she deserve to be humiliated in front of so many people. Your school is supposed to be an esteemed organisation which is imparting quality education for so many years. Instead of trying to address her problem in that particular subject, you chose to humiliate her and break her morale. Is this the way you handle performance? Did it not surprise you to discover that a student who is getting 90% in all subjects is under-performing in Mathematics? Instead of suggesting corrective actions and investigating the issue you chose to group and classify my daughter and break her confidence. My daughter is not weak in Mathematics.. but she is somehow afraid of the subject due to "fear of failure" ... she knows the concepts... I can assure everyone about that... And just in case you want to know as to who I am, please be informed that I am an Engineer by profession and My wife has a degree with Economics Major... We have learnt enough mathematics to be able to guide her.. The only issue is her phobia.. But I am surprised that instead of helping us to address the issue by virtue of your experience , you guys are happy to humiliate her and make her feel that she is a "failure"!! I do not know what is the performance of the other girls with whom you grouped her up... Are they all 90%ers with only one weakness or they are students who have generally scored low? If this is the way a school with over 100 years of history behind it handles performance ? if you consider this to be the right way .. so be it... let my daughter be dumped as a "weak" student, let her confidence be shattered.. no issues... You guys will never bother , will you? And in case she does any thing untoward , you will not be responsible will you? and if that happens, it will definitely leave a great mark in the history of your school .. probably as important as the ones left by ICSE 5-pointers ... Sorry if I have bothered you, but I thought of sharing this with you as a father in distress .. Thanks for your time...
