If you want to go Sealdah or Phool Bagan from salt lake or beleghata by public transport, it is the shortest and easiest way to reach there. Beliaghata to Sealdah auto fare is Rs 11 only and people are gentle enough to form a waiting queue to ride the incoming autos....
