Station infrastructure is very good. But cleanliness is a little bit low. Officials are very helpful and correctly guide us. Almost all trains traveling around here stop here. A big bus stand "Periyar Bus Terminus" is nearby, which connects almost all major cities from Madurai. The Railway Station is only 1.5 KM to 2 KM away from Meenakshi Amman Temple. Many hotels and rooms are available just outside.

Clean station in general. Food quality was decent. Had pongal-vada & idly-vada after alighting at Madurai. Escalators available on all platforms. The back side (west side) entrance is calm and peaceful as it opens into the Railway colony and then onto what is called "Madurai Road". One downside: Power to the escalators from the back entrance are turned off at 11 pm. Given that there are a number of trains arriving/departing late at night from Madurai Jn, IR could instead install technology to put them into idle mode based on non-use for "x" minutes. Such technology is available in many escalators in India. Later, the same night, I had a rather poor experience on platform #1 while waiting for my return journey train between 11:00 pm & 11:45 pm...too many mosquitoes made life rather miserable

A very important transit station. Tourists from North wishing to visit Meenakshi Amman Temple, Rameswaram and Kanyakumari land here. Parking lot tends to get congested when important trains arrive or depart.

One of the cleanest station I have ever visited. Railways have evolved a lot from what it was.. kudos to cleanliness and sanitation of station.

Good railway station and AC rooms also available here platform no:1 10/- for one hour and near to Meenakshi temple (West Tower)

Maheshwaran Venkataseshan

The station has improved dramatically to what it was 10 years old. The public sense of cleanliness needs a lot of improvement. Otherwise station has good facilities and has a scope for further improvements
