Service is a little slow but worth the wait. Good ambience ... Kheema biryani is a must have here.

Amezing food.. we went for buffet lunch with family. Good part is they serve all the dishes on ur table one by one also hold time between the next dish. First time I tried all the things in the restaurant. The best part was starters. We went for veg and must say everything was teasty. I loved the pastry in the end. The staff were very polite and professional. Thanks to Nisha spcialy for taking care of full family. I will surely visit and recommend to my friends.

Being new to the city, exploring eateries has become the weekly thing these days for me. I have fallen in love with Hyderabad instantly for its food. In the quest of the same, Mandil being new in the vicinity and the kind of praise it earned on Zomato so quickly, made it an instant choice on a lazy Saturday afternoon for lunch. Mandil boasts its specialization in North-Indian(Lucknowi) and Mughlai cuisine. It was easy getting to this place since the location is right on the road and they have good signage. The restaurant is in the same building as Bonsai, which is its asian counterpart. Its a small place themed in burgundy and gold with different choices for seating arrangements(tables with chairs, sofas and on the floor). They tried making this place look pretty with small crystal chandeliers, golden curtains hung in a way to give Shamiana effect to corner tables, golden framed mirrors and some props like Hookahs and Vases decorated in wall compartments. It was empty on a Saturday afternoon, so it was easy for us to opt for the table of choice. For food we decided to go for the five course set menu - one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian. As we excitedly waited for the feast to begin, we were firstly served a welcome drink which was nothing but sprite with micro bits of purposeless mint in it. Second was Tomato soup and Chicken soup wherein we were not offered any choices in that. Tomato soup was too sweet for the liking almost ketchup tasting and I doubted the presence of real tomato in that soup. I would give away on that considering the rise in tomato prices these days :p. Chicken soup was ok having enough chicken but lacking uniqueness or some flavor punch. We were already disappointed with the beverages. As I was committed to not being opinionated this soon, came the parade of starters. For veg there was - Tawa Sabzi, Hara Bhara Kebab, Veg Manchurian and Paneer Tikka. For non-veg - Tandoori Murg Tikka, Afghani Murg, Tawa Fish and Juje Kebab accompanied with ketchup, curd and coriander chutney with consistency close to water and no flavor, making me doubt its place on my table. Tawa Sabzi tasted good but had an eggy smell to it. Hara Bhara Kebabs tasted decent. Veg Manchurian was good, had right flavor balance and Manchurian balls were soft. As for Paneer Tikka, paneer tasted soft but the tikka marinade lacked spices and smokiness, making it pointless to call it a tikka. Non-veg starters did not excite my taste buds or made me go for another bite. Only saving grace was the succulent fish with flavors pleasant enough to have few more servings. I doubted the freshness of the Chicken Kebabs which tasted just bland with no flavor profile whatsoever and had too many bones. Tikkas and bones!!! It was very unusual. They insisted on redoing them for me. My re-done plate of tikkas arrived in a few minutes only to find out it was fried before dunking them in random spices. Treatment you would never want your kebabs to go through. As we survived the starters my hopes for main course dwindled. We had to choose two veg curries and one non-veg curry from options of 4 curries each. We settled for Dal Makhani, Kadai Sabzi and Murg Lababdar with Butter Naan. To my surprise, main course was better than the previous course and portion sizes of the dishes were quiet big. The Naan was fresh, fluffy and perfect. Chicken Lababdar was a mildly spiced preparation with balanced flavors but again chicken tasted bland. Since its the land of biryanis you are bound to be critical and have highest expectations and lot of respect for this Godly dish. Nawabi biryani felt flat to me and tasted nothing but ultra ordinary. Desserts were unlimited servings of ice-cream and pudding. Well, its next to impossible to go wrong with store bought vanilla ice-cream and I did thoroughly enjoyed the sugar rush. But before I could end my meal on a sweet note, came the stale pudding to again take away all my left interest for the next bite. It had a rancid aftertaste.
