Howrah Rail Museum is located very near to the New Complex and is within walking distance from the Howrah Station. The Museum traces very well the evolution and development of Indian Railway which began its journey in 1856. On display are ancient Railway Engines, compartments, signalling equipment systems, dresses of the railway staff over the years, signal lanterns and rare railway maps. Also available is a huge stamp collection on railway related topics from different countries. Besides on display is a railway engine seized during Indo-Pak war of 1971 that can make you proud of our armed forces and their sacrifice in the service of nation. There is a well maintained garden and a lovely toy train ride for a fee which is besides the entrance fee is Rs.10/-. The museum is closed on Thursdays and right of admission is reserved. You can complete a tour of the museum in about an hour but keep it in mind not to dirty the place in any way because you are under surveillance of CCTV cameras. Any digression may make you poorer by Rs.500/=
